All right, well, let's jump into three ways to make money with small email list. Giving up your time and freedom to make money is so 2009. Hi, I'm your host Salome Schillack and I help online course creators launch, grow, and scale their businesses with Facebook and Instagram ads so that they can make more money and have an even bigger impact in the world. How can you start making money even before you have a large email list? I wish I knew the answer to this question right back when I started and I was in struggle street trying to get my business off the ground. My go-to way back then was to become a coach and sell my coaching services, which worked out on various degrees of working out. It did not work out for me in terms of making money, it worked out really well in terms of teaching me life lessons I needed to learn to become a successful entrepreneur. But I will say that I made, in the end, more than almost half a million dollars in a year before I started to build my email list. The reason I was able to do this was because I was selling a premium service, Facebook Ads management, mostly to people who were referred to me through word of mouth.

I don't recommend that to anyone, here's why. Because word of mouth is not scalable, word of mouth is not a tap that you can turn on and off, and word of mouth leaves you open to, it's risky because it leaves you open to if you have somebody who refers to you regularly and then something happens to them or the relationship goes bad, then you're stuck. I have had ups and downs with that where when I was building my business entirely on word of mouth, selling a premium service, there certainly were times when I would suddenly have half of my clients quit in the same month for various reasons, and then where do you go to all of a sudden find new clients? So I know the value of building an email list. It took me too long to start building my email list and I don't want that to happen to you.

So I wanted to come up with a few ways I can help you think about things you can sell to your audience even before you have a large audience. The major, major thing that I am just loving about having an email list is that I really can turn sales on and off, I really can because I'm adding value to my email list every single week. Because I'm showing up for them, because I'm emailing them regularly, because I'm sending them this podcast, when I do need a bit of a cash injection, I can easily send them a few emails and turn some email lists into revenue in the business even into clients in the agency. I can send out an email and say, "Hey, we have a couple of open spots in the agency. If you've always wanted to apply, go ahead and apply now." So I highly, highly, highly recommend to all of you to build your email list, but don't wait until you have a giant email is to make money.

So the question is, how do you make money online if you can do it without an email list? Well, you don't need an email list necessarily but you do need an audience. I always teach my students the secret to making money online is to build an audience and to make them an offer. We all know that an email list is the best type of audience to have because you own it, it is yours and no one can take it away from you whereas social media can go away. But there are other ways to use your audience and to build your audience and to make them an offer and I'm going to tell you some of those ways.

So how can you build an audience? I'm building an audience right now with this podcast. The fact that you're here listening to me tells me that you are in my audience, you are getting value. I hope you are getting value from this podcast. Maybe you found me on Facebook or on Instagram, social media is another place where we build our audience, and then, of course, we build our audience on our websites. If you have a website and you have some custom audiences set up there from your pixel, then you are building your audience over there. So all of the work we do in order to consistently stay in front of people on social media, in order to add value to people in our podcasts or blogs, our video blogs, our YouTube channels, those are all audience building activities. We can somehow find a way to turn all those things into a place where we make them an offer. So really all you need is an audience and you need an offer.

If you have an audience and you're consistently making them an offer, then you should be making money. If you have an audience and you're not making them an offer, you're probably not making too much money. Or if you have an audience and you've made one offer and they didn't take you up on it and you haven't made another one since, then you're also not getting any closer to making money. So the secret is you got to build the audience and make them loads and loads and loads of offers until you learn exactly what converts.

So let's talk about audience building and what can you do to make money from your audience. Now, like I said, audience building can be either your blog, your video blog, your podcast, your social media, or even your Facebook group. I'm going to show you how you can use these things to sell affiliates or affiliate links or to create affiliate relationships and then sell someone else's products, how you can curate content and then have people pay for that curated content. I'm going to show you how you can show up live on Facebook and make offers that way and how you can turn your Facebook group into a paid membership. So let's look at some of these.

I have this lovely, lovely, amazing client in the agency. Her name is Ophi and she is one of the AstroTwins and I love hanging out with Ophi. I love it because she freaks me out a little bit when she guesses things about me because her and her sister, like I said, they're the AstroTwins, so they use astrology to create predictions. You're reading your stars to read your stars. I have to say that I'm a little bit into that and I love reading what they have to say about my week or my month or my day and what I should be careful for, I love it. So Ophi has a website called astrostyle.com, and you're welcome to check out astrostyle.com.

Now, you can imagine that the nature of the publications that they put out, they have weekly horoscopes, they have monthly horoscopes, and they have annual horoscopes, and daily horoscopes. So people who come there come back all the time as well. So the nature of their business is such that people might be coming to their website every single day over and over and over or every single week or every single. It is the type of site that attracts a lot of new people but it also attracts return visitors all the time. So what the AstroTwins have been really clever at is taking that level of free content that has the nature that it pulls people back in again, and they come up with the most creative ways to then sell things to people on their website. I just love it.

So they have a parenting Astro guide, they have a birth chart Astro guide, they have a feng shui Astro guide, they have a book called Momstrology that is all about understanding your child's astrology and then how to deal with your child. They even, listen to this fun one, they even have a book called Shoestrology. So based on your astrological charts, they know what types of shoes you wear. I wonder if they know that I walk around barefoot most of the day. I love, love, love shoes, but I walk around barefoot because I work from home and it's always hot in Brisbane. So I want you to check out their website, it's astrostyle.com, and just think about how you can use your website or your blog or the content that you create to create recurring visitors. And then take the topic that you deliver for free and package that up with something else and sell that.

So for example, they're selling a feng shui astrology book. They've partnered with a feng shui expert and they've combined astrology and feng shui into a book to help you decorate your home in a way that it's going to set you up for living your best life and tapping into all the feng shui energy and making sure you're doing things according to your astrological signs and according to your graft and whatever else that might be for you. So think about that, how can you create reoccurring visitors and they package your free stuff together with other fun stuff to sell to someone? Check out astrostyle.com.

The second thing that I want to share with you that is so cool, guys who are building an incredible business, is Matt and Joe from The Hustle and Flowchart. They have a podcast that I was recently honored to be featured on. The Hustle and Flowchart, that's what their podcast is called, their website is evergreenprofits.com, evergreenprofits.com. Now these guys, their tagline is the most actionable advice from the smartest people on the planet, the most actionable advice from the smartest people on the planet. And these guys have worked really hard to build a large audience. So they attract world-class speakers, if I say so myself, world-class speakers to come and share their knowledge on the podcast. The fact that they have these amazing speakers and they have an audience. So they have these two assets, they have an audience and they have these incredible speakers.

So how do you monetize that? So what these guys do is they take the summaries of all of those interviews and they turn it into the Evergreen Profits Report. It is a monthly membership that you pay for. And what you get every month is literally a book, a physical book that they even mail it to Australia. I get mine in the mail every single month, I love it. It has all of the bullet points from their interviews highlighted and it's just been formatted in a way that you can easily read the content from the podcast in book format. It is amazing because it takes me 10, 20, maybe 30 minutes to scan through the book and get the most valuable, most important information from six, seven, eight other amazing online marketers sharing what's working. Then based on what I read in the book, I can then go and listen to the episode if I want to go more in depth and I want to unpack the whole episode.

So I am very happy to pay to get the Evergreen Profits later every single month. Even though the content exists for free on their podcast, their membership saves me time and it helps me to digest all of these amazing information in a quicker and easier way. How do you become the host of other people who have a lot of knowledge and they connect those speakers with your audience and make it easier for your audience to digest that information whilst they pay you for it? The next one that I want to share is somebody who used to be a client of ours. I will tell you when she first reached out to me and she said she's just come out of a six-figure launch and now she wants to launch again and she's looking to add an ads manager into the mix, she's looking to run some ads for her launch. I said, "Great, so you've just had a six figure launch, how much did you spend on ads?" And she gave me this blank look and she was like, "No, no, I didn't run any ads. I'm coming to you for ads." I was like, "Yeah, sure. But you've just had a six-figure launch, so you must've had some ads running. So what did you have running?" She's like, "No, I've never run any ads." I was like, "Holy cow, she just did a six figure launch and she's never run any ads." This person is Amanda Ferguson.

Amanda is the creator of the Feminine Women Academy and Amanda is just an absolute force to be reckoned with. She is the most incredible public speaker, she has a beautiful presence, and of course she would because that's what she teaches other women inside the Feminine Women Academy. So she literally just goes live on her Facebook page and she pulls in such a giant crowd when she goes live that she was able to literally, just from a few Facebook lives, then have a call to action for them to join her academy and it resulted in a six-figure launch.

So I want you to think about this is Amanda's superpower. Maybe going live on Facebook is not your superpower, but maybe you have another superpower. Maybe there's something, maybe you are the next undiscovered clubhouse host or clubhouse person or maybe you're the next undiscovered TikTok person. Whatever it is that is your strength, I want you to tap into that because you do have a strength and there is a medium for you. So figure out what that is, tap into it, and fully embrace it and start creating an audience right there, and then just start making your audience an offer. Because once people are listening to you, they will be ready to buy from you, they will definitely be engaged and ready to take it to the next step.

Now, I said I have three ways here, but I actually have a bonus way. I just added this one this morning after I had a call with one of my fellow tribe mastermind members, Cheryl Kuchek, I hope I'm saying her surname correctly. Cheryl was sharing with me how she's been building up a Facebook group for years and she's got 30,000 members in this Facebook group. She's basically been sharing her information about sublimation. Sublimation is a form of printing, it's a fancy form of printing, and she's just been sharing Sublimation for Beginners and Beyond, that's the name of her group. She's just been sharing her information of building a sublimation business inside this free Facebook group. It's 30,000 members and they love her and her engagement is really high and she just decided, well, she's going to just pitch a membership to them.

So she created a summit and pitched the membership to them. And lo and behold, she made way more sales than she thought she would and she's got this amazing membership community. People took her up on her annual fee for this membership. She kind of said to me, she said, "I don't even understand why they're paying me to give them information that I've been giving them for free for years." The answer to that is they're paying you to do it because now they're paying more attention. Now they have more of your attention too and you're going deeper with the things that you have been sharing for free for so long. So don't think just because you've been sharing something for free that people have consumed and that they have absorbed and that they've been a part of means that they don't also want that same content from you being paid for but in a smaller community.

You can go and check out Cheryl's Facebook group if you go to Facebook groups and you search for Sublimation for Beginners and Beyond. Now, of course, please don't join her group if you're not a sublimationer or sublimationist, I don't know what the word is. But yeah, I had to add this in because I thought this was just so genius. She's worked hard for years and years adding value. Then she was like, "Holy cow, they want to pay me for the same stuff." Yes they do, yes they do. So what can you create a community around?

So now you've heard about Astro Style who uses their recurring visitors to their website and then they sell them books and other courses and things, the Hustle and Flowchart guys who curate content and then sells the curated version or the shortened version of that in a membership, you've heard Amanda who literally used her strength to go live on social media, and you've heard about Cheryl who built up this Facebook group and is now turning that into a membership. So I guess the question I have for you is, what are you good at? What are you already doing really well that you can do effortlessly and start building your audience around that and start making that audience an offer? How can you facilitate a community or facilitate a conversation that people are willing to pay for?
